Dr. Michele M. Johnson, neurosurgeon at Atlanta Brain and Spine Care, has been recognized as one of Castle Connolly’s 2026 Exceptional Women in Medicine. The award is given annually to outstanding physicians based on accomplishments and dedication to their specialties. Each honoree has been peer nominated. Dr. Johnson has been a Castle Connolly Top Doctor since 2019 and has been named to the Exceptional Women in Medicine list since 2020.
Dr. Johnson is a fellowship trained, board certified neurosurgeon specializing in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery. She received her Medical Doctorate with honors from Yale University Medical School. She completed her neurosurgical residency at Emory University. Dr. Johnson was Medical Director and Director of Spinal Trauma at Misher Neuroscience Institute in Houston before joining Atlanta Brain and Spine Care.
Dr. Johnson treats a variety of spinal conditions including degenerative spinal disorders, spinal tumors, and spinal cord injuries. She is a member of several professional medical associations including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the Georgia Neurosurgical Society. Throughout her years of experience, Dr. Johnson has been committed to providing exceptional care to ensure the highest quality outcomes for patients.
