Atlanta Brain and Spine Care is pleased to welcome Dr. Jun Kim to the practice. He is currently accepting new patients. Dr. Kim completed his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his medical residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where he also served as an Assistant Professor in Orthopedic Surgery. Following residency Dr. Kim completed fellowship training in Adult and Pediatric Comprehensive Spine Surgery at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City.
Dr. Kim has been in medical practice for 17 years and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. His special medical interests include complex adult and pediatric spinal deformity and minimally invasive spine surgery. An additional area of interest is in the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to spine imaging and surgical planning.
With his unique medical training under orthopaedic and neurosurgical spine specialists, Dr. Kim brings a comprehensive and multidisciplinary perspective to his practice. He maintains that treatment plans should be personalized and tailored to the specific needs of each patient. He further believes that all non-surgical avenues should be explored and trialed before surgical treatments are considered.
In addition to treating spinal deformities including pediatric and adult scoliosis, Dr. Kim treats degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, Scheuermann’s kyphosis, and spinal stenosis. He also offers other spine procedures including cervical and lumbar laminectomy, cervical disc replacement, spinal fusion, and lumbar microdiscectomy.
Dr. Kim speaks English, Korean, and Spanish. In his spare time, Dr. Kim enjoys soccer, fly fishing, and spending time with his wife and children.
